An Unexpected Extra - Introducing Hestia

I learned a lot over the last two years, but I've REALLY learned how to grab code I wrote for one thing, and turn it into something new for another. Case in point:

I have twin daughters who are collecting their driving hours to get their official drivers licenses soon. Many states recommend the same app - an app called Road Ready which I've hated pretty much since I installed it on my phone. I get that developers have to eat too but it was filled with ads and glitches. Last week the app upgraded and it was inaccessible for three days. (It's still inaccessible to me) - lots of angry parents have the same problem I had - not only was I locked out, but when I got back in their driving data was gone.

For me, it wasn't a huge deal. They had only accumulated about 6 hours a piece since finishing Segment 1, but after a few minutes of anger I decided I could code something that got the job done, didn't have ads, and didn't require me to log in.

I already had the code.

In Athena we coded a feature that lets you schedule tasks on a calendar and rec

ord the time you spend on it. In Hestia we needed a simple recorder to record drive time. It needed to be shareable between other adults because my wife and I both take the twins out seprately sometimes and we didn't want to send each other data to upload. And of course, as a believer in emotional health I wanted a quick rating system for teens to rate their confidence levels. If they aren't improving parents should get that warning.

In a marathon 24 hour coding session I built Hestia (and that included testing time) - Because so much of the code had been borrowed from Athena,

So, in record time I went from idea to build and we're waiting on final app store approval now. I didn't really want to take away from Hestia's niece's launch but a lot of parents needed a new solution. There are no ads in Hestia (though I did code in a tip jar) and she's completely free.

Hopefully the angry parents who have "Road Ready" road rage will like her as much as I already do!
